My heart is a garden:
Both enclosed and open.
With a treehouse and a fountain,
Shadows, and light comin' in.
No, I wouldn't let nobody in,
But cats and birds:
They ain't carin',
They just keep on come-n'-goin'.
They chirp and they fly,
Take a nap, meow,
Makin' this lil' place
More bright and alive...
But the gate is closed.
There, you can't come in.
That treehouse is just mine to chill in,
And no, you can't touch my dear fountain!
Someone before you
Hit it, while breaking in...
It is cracked still,
Needs some more fixing... n'
I'm not gonna let you touch my roses!
Their white and red beauty hides the bruises
I still have from falling once way too hard...
I have to protect, my garden-heart!
Or, do I?
I ask myself as I see birds fly by...
You seem to be one of them - don't know how or why -
I just thank God every day that you make me smile.
